HTHGS:
Chlamydia (written by Kelly Connell MS.Ed.)
Ask
Kelly,
I recently was tested for STD's and was
positive for Chlamydia. I have since been treated. I could have been infected
for a little over a year without symptoms. Since than I have not had the same
kind of sensation during any type of foreplay, as I had before. I originally
thought this could be b/c I had a new partner, but could any major damage have
been done to cause this? Sincerely, desensitized
Dear Desensitized,
I know of no problems with sensation caused by Chlamydia.
If left untreated, it can cause internal damage to the uterus, fallopian
tubes and ovaries that can cause infertility problems. But it should not affect
your ability to feel pleasure during sex. I am assuming you told your partner
and whoever else you many have had sexual contact with so they could get
treated. You don't mention whether you feel the same sensations when you
masturbate. This may be a good way to tell if what you are or in your
case not feeling is due to some physical problem or an emotional problem within
your relationship. Perhaps you
feelings about sex have changed since you were diagnosed. Please see your GYN
and discuss this problem. Hope this helps!
